The computer virus that infiltrated the school district’s systems hit at 4 a.m. October 29th. Three hours later it was discovered at the entire system was shut down by the school’s information technology staff. These facts were spelled out in a news conference held by Interim Superintendent Karen Trujillo. The district’s system was infected with ransomware. The department did not engage the hacker, so it isn’t known what demands he had. He said no determination had yet been made as to whether the malware was introduced via email attachment or other means.
